After years of photographing people, I've decided to focus on
the creatures who, throughout the years, have given so much to me.
My dogs and cats have always been a huge part of my life.
The love affair started with Bootsie, my first house
cat when I was 6. She was really like a sister to
me for the next 19 years.
Wally was next, the little mix breed I rescued from the pound.
He ate everything. One time I found both a thumbtack and
a penny in his mouth!
Next was Norton the gentle giant who was so sensitive
that he would routinely surrender his bed to Ralph the cat. Ralph
played cool but he really looked up to Norton and would always make
sure he was just close enough to Norton, but not too close.
Then there was Brewer. Scruffy and unkempt, he was living
in an office supply store waiting for the right home after his
owner passed. The week after Brew came home with me he
discovered that he was a champion swimmer and diver after he chased
his toy into my pool and proceeded to swim lap after lap in sheer joy,
with the occasional break to get out of the pool just to dive back
in with style, I might add!
Now I have Tallulah the little princess my wife rescued from the
New York Humane Society for my birthday. From pound to
princess, she sleeps with us every night and is always the last one
out of bed in the mornings!
It only seems natural to use my artistic talent to create portraits
of the beautiful animals who fill my heart and give
us all so much.
Pupography strives to create photos that capture your
loved one in a relaxed and natural way. You're encouraged to
jump in for some shots too. Often these turn out to be really
fun pictures! Getting a photograph that is not the
"stressed out" panting shot takes a fair amount of patience.
Your session can be approached in many ways. For your convenience,
we are available 7 days a week. Your session can be approached

Shooting in your home is one of the best ways to capture
your pet in a calm mental state. Sometimes, we will have to
move some furniture around, but it is well worth the extra effort.

If you have a special place, like your park, we can
absolutely use that as well. Some large breeds are
well-suited to this kind of shot.
Pupography understands that our pets need time to get used to
the Pet Portrait Photographer. For that reason, whether you choose
an in studio, home or location shoot the Pet Portrait Photographer
will take some time to bond with your loved one before the shoot
starts. This helps to build trust and that will translate to a more
successful session. Your session time does not start until we
actually start shooting, so travel time, set up time and bonding
time are on us.
Wherever you decide to shoot, we will try different setups
and backgrounds, tight shots, full body shots. Our pets are full of
delightful surprises. It is our goal to capture the true essence of
your little companion. Sometimes, that means just observing and
following them around a bit.
All sessions come with an unlimited amount of digital shots,
an online password protected web gallery, and a beautiful fully
retouched 8x10 gallery print mounted in an 11x14 "museum rag" white mat.
Due to the unlimited frame choices available, Pupography does not frame
our matted prints. We leave that up to you.
More shoot time is billable at $200 per half an hour,
with a half hour minimum. Extra pets are billable at $150
additional for each pet after the first pet. Travel outside of
Manhattan is quoted upon request.
The cost for additional prints is as follows:

8x10$75 matted in an 11x14 mat with backing
11x14$125 matted in a 16x20 mat with backing

You should groom or at least bathe your pup before
the session and have a favorite toy or treat available.
I have a few tricks and noises as well. Make sure they are
well walked but not exhausted before their shoot.
This is a great way to relax them. As for cats, well,
you know, they will do what they want anyway.
